The Urban Waterfront Pool and Promenade is a project based in Porto, Portugal. The historic center of Porto is a UNESCO world heritage center due to its outstanding urban fabric and old historic buildings. Porto is built with granite, which is gradually appeared throughout the city’s history. In addition, the city buildings are designed with patterns and use of Azulejo tiles on the main tourist attraction buildings. The design concept was inspired by the city’s patterns and overall layout of the fabric; the distort regular buildings. Based at the Douro River near Luis Bridge, the concept was also generated from the idea of having a split path similar to how the river sits in-between Porto and Gia towns. Therefore, with concept analysis, the use of patterns was used to generate a parametric form using three different attractors. Point attractors, curve attractors and combined curve and point attractors. This shows three different types of distortion. Thereafter, a study on grid distortion using the same attractors with a difference in the distortion of the vertical lines and the horizontal lines. Using Rhino and grasshopper to generate this distortion of grids and patterns, the geometry of the site was implied into the grasshopper script to generate a grid distortion. With the implication of the main route and additional small paths, the Urban Fade was generated. The programmes are split into four sections. Section 1 – Dressing rooms, Indoor Pool.Section 2- Main Outdoor Pool, Section 3- Promenade, Section 5- Other Amenities, i.e. Restaurants, Observation rooms, Visitors information desk
